It was with great pleasure yesterday that I attended the first anniversary of the San Diego Tea Party. The gathering was held at the embarcadero and near the Star of India. Turnout was impressive, despite heavy rain and thunder. As before, it gives one a good feeling to mingle with others who share your beliefs about the insane course this country has taken, under the guise of "change". Lord help us if we get too much of this kind of change.
The message of the Tea Party group is simple. Stay active. Stick to the principles of small government, the beauty of our United States Constitution, individual responsibility and low taxes. This came out loud and clear for all of us that attended; Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Independents. All who are tired of the government's confiscation of our individual freedoms.
What struck me most, and is the impetus behind this post is the "message", of the counter-protest to the Tea Party gathering. While the Tea Party gathering was calm, constructive and non-violent, the handful of "useful idiots" who came to protest across the street had an entirely different approach. First they tried to disrupt the Tea Party speakers with a bullhorn, which failed when the Harbor Police found they had no permit for it at their gathering. Next came the chants. What kind of chants you might ask? Well, things like "racists, bigots, anti-gay go away". Other favorites were signs like "Single Payer System Now" and "Tax the Rich First". Obviously these folks came with an agenda and more importantly closed minds. If they had taken the time to listen to what was going on, mingle with the Tea Party crowd they would have quickly seen their chants rang hollow. These people had no coherent message. All that they tried to say was glued together by hate, class envy and intolerance.
Unbelievably the hate-monger counterdemonstrators tried to offer up a song; "This is My Country". It made me sick to think that the Tea Partiers efforts to protect Constitutional freedoms give haven to lunatics like the Lefties that showed up yesterday. This really is not the Lefties country, it is not what they want and it is not what makes them happy. A timeless rant seems to apply here. To all you Libs out there who don't like the soil you stand on "Love It or Leave It". Let's show them the door in November.
By the way, that's me in the picture above from the 2009 Tea Party at Spanish Landing. I have my back to the camera on the left side, holding my sign "Give Me Liberty, Not Debt" and the flip side "Obamanomics, Chains You Can Believe In". Get out there. It's fun and vital for our country.

Goofy is Sailing the Econmic Ship
Christine Romer, Obama’s economic advisor, was herded into the FOX News studios this morning as the sacrificial lamb. Stuart Varney, a naturalized US Citizen and very pro business got her to say her piece about the “recovery” and the “success” of the stimulus plan. After dancing about a bit, Varney closed the interview with two simple questions to Romer; 1) can you make the case that increasing taxes on the wealthy will stimulate jobs growth? Answer; “what you’ve got to realize is that we are giving tax breaks to 95% of America." When Varney pressed with; “well as an economist knowing the numbers and percentages, how does taxing the wealthy (the top 25% of income earners), who pay already 85% of the taxes help create jobs? Romer spits out the same reply. Knowing he’s hit a “wall” with her on this question, Varney asks the last; “can you as an economist tell me that Obama’s increase of the deficit will not suppress jobs?” Romer plays the Bush card but admitted that the president takes responsibility for the deficits, yet she wouldn’t answer the basic question. Everyone knows deficits are BAD for the economy. Obama’s position is indefensible and she knows it, but lies and deflects to protect her mistaken beliefs. Another glass of Kool Aid for Romer please. In this case, Romer’s failure to answer, is the answer.

Basic In-stinks
One year after the coronation, we have time to reflect on the success of Barack Obama's reign. From where I sit the man is unfit to run the country. Ok already, I know it is a tough job, etc. etc. But it is more than that, Obama has bad in-stinks (sic), which means his "gut" is not in touch with what America really needs in a leader. Cases in point:
National Security. In his zeal to close Guantanamo Bay and satisfy his left-wing base, Obama really stuck crank in the door. His much vaunted effort to turn the War On Terror into a police action has backfired. Never once did he anticipate the furor that would erupt when ultimately terrorists will be shipped to the U.S. for trials and encarceration. Eric Holder, Obama's Attorney General, has been an embarrassment and abomination (more on that later). His cavalier action on bringing Kahlid Sheik Mohammed to trial in New York has resulted in such a hue and cry that it helped hand Scott Brown a victory in Massachusetts, taking over Uncle Ted Kennedy's seat. Now Obama has to consider keeping Guantanamo open because no right minded people want those religious lunatics here. Duh! And the COST. My Lord, $200 million a year in Manhattan for security. Think of this in terms of BILLIONS of dollars from a bankrupt U.S. being frittered away on hundreds of "terrorist", not enemy combatant, trials. Again a Duh moment for Obama.
Foreign Relations. You can't even grade the guy on this one. Where to start; bowing to foreign leaders, an abject failure to rein in Iran's nuclear program, pissing on Israel while the United Nations drums up more human rights nonsense, selling Eastern Europe down the tubes by failing to install a missile deterrent and bolstering Russia's position and standing by mute while people take to the streets in Iran, probably our best hope for popular regime change in the Middle East. World Leaders recognize his weakness and will continue to exploit it in the coming years. His supposed dialogues with the mullahs in Iran have yielded nothing but derision and disdain from that quarter. The only thing I will give him credit for is killing the Somali pirates, something long overdue.
The Military. Obama now asks our soldiers to be policemen. Miranda rights, rules of engagement, protocols and B.S. We continue to bring our protectors before courts to prosecute them for doing their job in the field. After all, they are fighting a war. A dirty nasty business against an enemy Obama refuses to acknowledge for fear of alienating the Muslims. Must be the Hussein in him. What have these prosecutions brought? Have they made us bigger or better in the eyes of the world? No, mostly they are an embarrassment, as many soldier trials have ended in acquittals. The latest out there involves a few Navy seals that may have punched a terrorist while capturing him. Poor guy. In a war, not a "man caused disaster", the Seals would have finished their work in the field. Now a show of hands.....who wants to join the military, the police or Homeland Security if you could ultimately be tried in court for doing your work? Obama's in-stink on the military sucks. He and his administration are incapable of protecting us from our mortal enemies. We will continue to pay for his starry-eyed view of the world as long as he and his supporters rule.
The Economy. Spend, spend and more spend. Who gives a damn about jobs when you can force feed the public a sweeping health care bill. Or should I say power-grab? Well that went well didn't it? It blew up in Barack's face and cost the Democrats a supermajority in the Senate. Thank God. We now have a chance to limit the damage going forward. Having spend billions to stimulate the economy we are still waiting to see the results. But we have "saved jobs" right? Don't we all understand that? The administration pulled an unprovable, unpublished statistic out of its derriere in order to measure its progress with the Stimulus. That's like Captain Kirk reprogramming Star Fleet's computers so he could beat the Kobyashi Maru test. I guess if we can create our own yardsticks we would always measure up. Truth is we have waited so long for real results that the economy is essentially recovering on its own, as capitalist economies tend to do. After spending billions on TARP and bailouts, Paul Volcker, an Obama economic advisor, is testifying on why no more bailouts should be allowed in the future. The public has been screaming this from day one; "let bad companies fold". But no. Now we have the government and labor unions owning companies here in the U.S. of A. Say it ain't so Myrtle. Then there is the budget. Trillions in deficits spanning decades. Hold on to your gold and platinum folks, we're in for a bumpy ride. More in-stink.
Post Race Relations. Obama has done little to sooth tensions amongst the races in this country. Figuring prominently is Eric Holder's (there he is again) decision not to prosecute Black Panthers who were filmed intimidating voters outside a polling place. If we forget the black and white for a minute, let's look as some other "racial" clashes Obama has fomented. We must now hate corporations for they make too much money. We must hate bankers, we must hate the rich (as he defines it), we must hate the Tea Baggers (aka Patriots), we must hate talk radio and Fox News. Tell me I'm wrong here! The drumbeat is constant in the mainstream media. Mark my words, this is the most divisive president in history.
There could be a LOT more to write here, the least of which was Obama's Supreme Court bashing in the State of the Union address, but I simply have to stop or my one reader will tire and not finish the blog. To run this great country you have to know it. Obama doesn't know it, he doesn't feel it. Yes, he does know the Left, but he has an ivory tower view of the rest. People are going to tire of the name calling and the blame game and hopefully it will have a profound effect on the 2010 and 2012 elections. The Right will have to serve as the gut check for this president because he doesn't have the proper instincts to run the country. He only has in-stinks.
