My neighbor thought I was kidding. I am known around here for throwing things into the discussion about government that defy belief. It has become so common I am sure that some people blow me off, but this particular comment didn't drop off the radar. "Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize", I said. A pause, then on with the conversation. An hour later the same neighbor calls me and says, I just heard the news, did Obama really win the Nobel Peace Prize?
That, I believe, is the reaction of most Americans that have come to view the Nobel Prizes as the zenith of human achievement. Obviously, when you begin to look at the ranks of the people who have been awarded the Prize, you begin to scratch your head. But why should we be surprised? This is the core of liberalism at work. We wouldn't want President Obama have poor self esteem would we? Next thing you know we will have bumper stickers on "soccer mom's" cars proclaiming; "My Child Won The Nobel Playground Award at Roosevelt Middle School. That is the worth accorded the Peace Prize due to liberal political meddling.
I know this post is way after the news cycle but is just chaps my ass that this once prestigious award has been perverted to become a seal of legitimacy for a dangerously naive view of the world we live in.
