Freedom is a Muscle That Requires Exercise

Humor has a habit of making dull subjects endurable.  If you have a few moments take a look at Bluto's famous motivational speech to his Delta House buddies; from the film "Animal House:.  To quote Larry the Cable Guy; "I don't care who you are, that's funny".

The reason I put this clip up here is that you have to get fired up to get things accomplished.  I apply that now to the situation that I feel we face in America.  We have long been told that there is a "silent majority" that really guides America in its ways.  But today, I think we face a greater peril.  One that requires the silent majority to become the VOCAL majority.  The left-wingers and socialists have been showing us how to play the game and we have just watched.  Now comes our time to step up to the plate for America.  We can no longer be silent while our way of life is taken from us.  We must follow Bluto's advice, pick ourselves up and fight.

I remember feeling pretty silly when I went out and bought sign making materials for my first Tea Party rally, but I slogged through it for some reason.  When I got there I realized I'd come home.  It was so refreshing to see people there that shared my views.  These were folks resurrected from apathy, as was I.  We felt compelled to be there just as Richard Dreyfus was drawn to the Devil's Tower in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".   By and large, everyone there was in it for themselves and for America; to prevent the "change" that those who simply vote by color, politics or personal gain had managed to get into the White House.  Dreams are one thing, reality is another.  The man in the White House wants us to be something else than what we have come to believe is America.

I blog about that enough; the objections and disagreements.  This blog is about motivation.  At some point you have to exercise the freedom "muscle", or it will wither and die.  We have thousands upon thousands of elected officials who do nothing more than create laws; day in and day out.  Excuse me, I forgot their generous recesses and holidays; that makes it a little better for us.

But, have you ever stopped to think what that means, having our legislatures in session year after year?   By definition a "law" is something that restricts freedom.  So year after year legislators make laws and Americans become less "free".  Obama has taken this a quantum step further with his agressive socialist programs and the invasiveness of his health care proposals and environmental agenda.    People who voted for him would say he is making them more free, but they are seriously deluded.   By the very nature of his premier programs, he is making us slaves to the "state".  But again, this is not about Obama, but Americans who like the way America is/was and want to keep it that way.

Get out there, sound off and fight for your freedom.  Make a sign, piss off a lefty.  Turn up Glenn Beck real loud and annoy your neighbors.  Have your liberal Aunt Alice disown you, but don't give up.  And if you listen to talk radio, there is an amazing Public Service Announcement (PSA) on now that makes me want to weep.  Its theme is that the "biggest impediment to your freedom is you".   As I found out, it's dead on the mark.   Call a congressman, write a letter, send emails and faxes.  It's the first PSA that I thought was worth the taxpayer dollars.
