I have been lazy lately about getting my posts up. I have about a dozen pending, but things are getting in the way........until today. Have you ever heard news that made your jaw drop? I guess that is a rhetorical question because I am sure most everyone has. Be that as it may, there is breaking news about Iran having a second nuclear facility; one designed specifically to produce enriched, (bomb grade) uranium.
To those of us that are professionally skeptical, this comes as no surprise. What did surprise me is the revelation that His Majesty, Barack MMMMmmm.....MMMMmmmm. MMMMmmm. Hussein Obama has known about this for some time. Say what? The news breaking indicates that the U.S. has known about this second site for at least two weeks. What's more, this information was not shared with (at least France) our allies. Why?
The information was squelched because Obama didn't want his address to the United Nations marred by any surprises. He was dead set to talk in flowery terms on nuclear disarmament while the enemy was building its deadly arsenal. What does a right thinking American think about such a thing? The government muzzling the news so as to look better when preaching Kumbayah? France's Sarkozy is reportedly furious over the matter. But for us normal Americans it raises all kinds of issues. What got in the way of the disclosure? How the president looks? How it affects his planned message?
From this man's perspective, it underscores the dangerously inflated ego, and to quote France's Sarkozy, an equally dangerous "naivety" about what the world is. Now, I am all for the Rodney King "why can't we all get along" stuff, but there is a proper time and place. The world has grown rough and tough and Obama is still playing with dolls. Until the bullies are gone from the world, Obama's message is perilous and stupid. Our allies and enemies alike are coming to the same conclusion. Our president is so far out there in la-la land, I think he must have been a Heaven's Gate'r left behind. I only wish he'd hitched a ride with the Hailey Bopp comet, then we would have some sanity in our foreign relations.
But I have to be fair, right? I heard a caller on Sean Hannity's show today who asked; "what do we have to fear from Iran?", meaning why do we concern ourselves with the nuclear processing there? Why should we Americans even think of being involved? As Sean regurgitated his pre-programmed talking point loop I was incredulous. Sean dutifully recited the dangers to Israel, the stability of the Middle East and by extension U.S. interests. But he completely dropped the ball. The problem with Iran enriching uranium has to do with the ultimate destination of the fissile material. Tehran will not keep all of it's enriched uranium in country. You can bet a steady stream will find itself in rogue nuclear weapons and "dirty bombs" in Tel Aviv and major cities around the globe. Goal? Simultaneous detonation and the crash of Western Culture. Never mind that vast swaths of the world be rendered uninhabitable by radioactive material. The mullahs are not sane. So how long can we suffer his Majesty's naivety? Come on 2010.
